Faultless

A man wired his wife that he would be home one day early as he had been able to tie up his business in the city earlier than expected.

Imagine his surprise when he walked into their bedroom to find his wife with another man. Taking his bag, he stormed out of the house and on the porch met his mother-in-law, told her what had happened and announced that he was filing suit for divorce in the morning.

"I'm sure there is an explanation, at least give her the chance before you do anything rash." Pleaded the old woman.

Reluctantly the man agreed.

An hour later, he got a call from his mother-in-law with a note of triumph in her voice, "I told you, I knew my daughter would have an explanation, and it wasn't her fault either. She didn't get your telegram!"
