Service Pack #1
Lucas Digital Releases Star Wars Service Pack
SAN FRANSISCO, CA -- LucasFilms, Ltd., top effects house and producer ofthe blockbuster "Star Wars" saga has announced the release of a service pack for its most recent film, "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace." "Episode1.01" promises to address several known plot and motivation issues that marred the debut of the first "Star Wars" movie from the studio in 16 years.
Documentation included with the patch lists fixes to many glaring errors reported by fans worldwide. Most widely known is the so-called "Mommie Dearest" bug, which caused everbody in the movie to fail to realize that they had enough money to buy freedom for Anakin Skywalker's mother. Another problem resolved by the fix is the "Sandman" bug, in which the young Obi-Wan Kenobi spends almost a minute commenting on the severity of a sandstorm on the planet Tatooine, yet remains outside.
Episode 1.01 also boasts a faster story line, improved explanation for Anakin's birth and a more complete implementation of Darth Maul. Minor tweaks include some to the voice of comic relief character Jar Jar Binks, so that he doesn't sound so much like Roger Rabbit.
