Different Criteria

I was sitting in class today with a smart-assed friend who asked the instructor "Can you reassign literals"?

"What do you mean?" the TA responded.

"Well, in FORTRAN, you can say '1 = 2', and it's perfectly legal."

"I don't think you can. But why would you want to?"

"There's no technical reason. But the job security purposes are endless!"
