Film Review - Bourne Identity, The
This was a disappointment. I was hoping for a really cool spy thriller about a man who can kick butt and disappear before your eyes. (Maybe I really wanted to see Kung Fu again?) What I got was a spy with an identity crisis. That's not horrible for a movie set up, but it's the whole damned movie!
Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) is a U.S. spy found almost dead at sea. He has no idea who he is at first. He's been shot a few times, he's strong, and when he feels threatened, he kicks your ass.
Jason tries to make contact with the U.S. only to find they are hunting him. He goes into hiding and meets Marie (Franka Potente) whom he hires to give him a ride to Paris.
The rest of the movie is about how everyone is trying to kill Jason. Jason kills almost everyone. And eventually he finds out who he is, and who his keeper was back in the U.S. of A.
Huh? Isn't this a ten yard penalty for roughing the audience? I wanted more. Doesn't this guy need to save the world? If I wanted to see amnestic people start fights, I'd just go to a Staff Meeting.
I had higher hopes. I wanted more. I was disappointed.
