Where's Svlad? - End Game
"Daddy?" said a young woman's voice.
We had never seen Biff do a spit-take before. A familiar person handed him a bar towel.
"Hi, I'm Svlad, and I'll be your bartender. This is Thu. She'll be your daughter."
|
Svlad had been known as a cruel prankster. He often would kick people's metal desks when they were in deep concentration. He had also been known for sending emails from people who had left their computers unlocked. The best way he knew to teach people security was to send marriage proposals from the unlocked computer. Was this a game? |
Biff looked at the woman. Short, Asian, late 20's, but just slightly familiar.
"You're Tien's daughter."
She nodded.
Biff still had a dumb look on his face. "So, where's Dick Head?"
"He's been dead a long time. I just used his card to get you interested." Svlad winked, and then nodded at Thu. "I'm not the prize in the game. She is."
There was a pause while Biff counted to himself. "How old are you?" he asked Thu.
"29."
"Born in 1970?"
"1971."
"In Bac Ha?" Biff asked.
"Outside Bac Ha."
Biff drank the shot Svald put in front of him.
"You went to Vietnam and found my daughter?"
Dexter P. Lampshade had a perfect entrance. He dropped a dish of nuts in front of Biff. "She found us," he said.
"Where the hell have you been?"
"Chile, drinking chicha."
"It's real simple," said Svlad. "After Thu grew up, she left Vietnam for France where she opened a restaurant. One day, she did a web search on your name and found LowComDom. When I got her letter..."
"Why did you write to him?" Biff asked Thu.
She looked confused. "I didn't, I wrote to you!" she said.
"I'm the mail server Administrator. I read everyone's email. So anyway, that's when Dexter and I decided to get you a treasure hunt for your birthday. I told you we needed to spend all of the NEA money in Mexico. I told Trouble what was happening in Omar's bar and then left. That's how he knew where to go in France."
"Where's Mongo?"
"Back in the States. He's the only one we didn't tell. He's got no poker face. We just dropped enough clues in front of him so he would discover Tien and learn about Thu. Since he wouldn't be trying to trick you, we figured you would believe everything he sent back. It worked. Then when Trouble sent back the fabricated clues, you added them to the real information and came to the conclusion we wanted. You got played!" he laughed.
"Thanks. You know we're broke."
"No we're not. we've been selling a few thousand T-shirts a month. The whole thing's paid for. Happy birthday, Boss, we got you a daughter. And we no longer have to beg the NEA for money any more."
And that's the story of how Svlad got "kidnapped", Biff got a daughter, Thu got a father, and how LowComDom got into the T-shirt business. Since this little adventure, the internet meltdown happened, then 9-11. Svlad and Mongo have left the company. Trouble went on to become an award-winning donut chef. Omar is still tending bar in Mexico. Dexter stayed with LowComDom becoming an IS manager. Thu still has her restaurant, and travels between Vietnam, and France. Biff now lives in France, building a relationship with his daughter. He sometimes waits tables and plays chess with the customers.
