Film Review - Wrong Trousers, The

The adventures of Wallace & Gromit continue!

Apparently, our heroes returned from the moon safe and sound. As our story begins, it is Gromit's birthday, and Wallace has bought him a pair of techno-trousers to take him on walkies. Of course, the trousers will only do what they are told.

Enter The Villain.

Our villain is an evil penguin who has his eye on knocking over a museum using the techno-trousers. The penguin forces Gromit out of the house, then straps Wallace into the pants and sends him via remote control to the museum.

Nick Park has another masterpiece on his hands. The animation in The Wrong Trousers is a cut above its predecessor A Grand Day Out. And, like the previous film, the humor is layered thick, making the film a pleasure to watch over and over.

Have You Seen This Chicken?

It would be easy for a film of this type to just be a little silly farce, but The Wrong Trousers proves that in all stories it's the actions of old friends that make us laugh and come back wanting more. Gromit learns that the penguin has been disguising himself as a chicken and is a notorious cat burgler. (How many species did I have in that sentence?) Gromit must come the the rescue of his friend and put the penguin behind bars, which leads us to one of the best and funniest chase scenes I've ever seen.

Think I'm giving it all away? Ha! Double ha! It doesn't matter what I tell you about this story, you're going to laugh, and unless you were my film teacher, you're going to like The Wrong Trousers.

No Suction!
