 Film Review - Virtual Sexuality

I know you think this is a dirty movie. Well it isn't. Virtual Sexuality is a very good British film about a teenage girl looking for a special boy for her first sexual encounter.

Through a strange fluke in a virtual reality machine, she is cloned as a boy with all the features she wanted. The vast majority of the film is the clone coming to grips with being male.

Meanwhile, the girl continues her quest, and eventually spots the boy who is staying with a male friend of her's who is secretly in love with her. Of course she has no idea what the clone is really her counter-self. And of course the male friend who is secretly in love with her, has the agonising task of knowing everything.

This movie works because it is a comedy of errors. It works because it is a love story. And it works because it's a very fresh approach to this type of story. In fact it's easy to be reminded of Run Lola, Run in that both are films out of Britain with a look at the world from the perspective of a new generation. No more of that British "Angry Young Man" genre here. This new crop of British films is fun to watch. It's good to see them getting some exposure here in the United States.

No Suction!
