The Transporter is one of those European car chase movies that never fails to excite. I think European cities make great backgrounds for car chases because of the narrow streets, and the close proximity to the pedestrians. In North America we have wide streets and it's much harder to whack a passer-by.

Jason Statham plays Frank Martin, a retired military man who now makes his living delivering items. These items can be people, or packages. What is certain, is there is always risk in what he does. Frank lives by rules. When he follows the rules, everything happens as it should. Today, he breaks the rules.

I've mentioned the car chase scenes, and there are a few in this film. But the rest is almost wall-to-wall action. The story is thin, and doesn't get in the way of the exciting bits, like having a gang fight in a big puddle of motor oil, or fighting in a moving truck cab (which reminded me of Raiders of the Lost Ark.)

This is definitely a guy film. The lead female character (Qi Shu as Lai) is portrayed is mostly helpless until she takes her clothes off. So perhaps this is a film to watch while your significant other is in the other room watching Maid in Manhattan.
