Uh, I think I saw this. Wasn't Ricardo Montalban in this film? Star Trek - Nemesis in many ways is a re-make of Star Trek II - The Wrath of Kahn.

The crew of the Enterprise have assembled in Alaska to celebrate the marriage of Riker and Troi. Once married, the wedding party needs to go to her home town for the nude version of the ceremony. On the way, they find an earlier version of Data, and get invited to Romulus. Then the doo-doo hits the anti-matter injectors.

Pichard's clone has taken over the Romulan Empire. (Don't ask how. It doesn't make sense, and I'm not telling you anything the trailer hasn't already.) He's kind of pissed and wants to start a war, and the best way to do that is to start killing everyone he can.

Where the Wrath of Kahn parallel comes in is the contrast between calm, cool, collected Pichard, and the inexperienced, irrational Shinzon (the clone). These two really are two sides of the coin, much like Kirk and Kahn.

The end of the film seals the comparison of the two films. Just think about what happened at the end of Wrath of Kahn. The exact same thing happens here, and that makes Nemesis a re-hash.

I've been saying for a while that Star Trek really has run out of gas. This universe that Gene Roddenberry gave us has been fully explored. There are hints that this might be the last Next Generation film. Perhaps it should be. It like the new Star Trek TV series Enterprise has stopped exploring strange new worlds.
