Film Review - South Pacific

I am disappointed. I've heard of this film all my life. A recent trip to Hawaii and seeing where South Pacific was made finally sparked my interest in seeing it.

This is a very long, largely dull film. If you remove the music numbers from the film, you really don't have anything. Two parallel boy meets girl stories occur. One relationship ends in tragedy, one ends in true love. This is applied against a thin World War II backdrop.

That's it. The glue is the musical numbers which are very good, but it's not enough to keep me interested for three hours. The film is considered a classic, but I'd skip it.
