Some films are true surprise. The Sixth Sense is one of those gems giving you far more than you paid for at the box office.

The film is about a child psychologist who is visited one night by a boy he once tried to treat but failed. The boy shoots the doctor, played by Bruce Willis, and then himself. A year later the doctor is asked to treat another boy similarly afflicted. The boy sees dead people.

At this point, you have a nice horror film. The boy is constantly scared to death. He wants the dead people to go away. Willis must find a way to gain the boy's trust in order to treat him. At the same time, Willis' marriage is breaking up, and he is helpless to stop it.

The end of this film is a real prize. If anyone spoils it for you, punch them in the mouth because they are stealing away the real magic of this picture from you. I can usually guess the end of a film about 30 minutes before it arrives, and I certainly didn't see this coming. For me, this was the frosting on the cake.
