Film Review - Practical Magic
Now here's a fun film. Practical Magic on the outside looks like a film about witches, and that's right, it is. But it is also much more.
Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman play sisters who are being raised by their aunts (Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing). As children, they learn the family craft of spell-making and grow up to be witches. Bullock plays the "quiet" witch, not drawing attention to herself. Kidman plays a more outgoing witch, using her power for pleasure.
Of course, we have a villain spirit to deal with so we can have some plot motion. But the plot is not really the strength of the film. The multi-generation relationships really work here. A love story with suspense -- always a good combination.
