In the 1960's James Bond took the motion world by storm. Bond was so popular that many knock offs were produced. Our Man Flint is one such knock off. This is a very cheesy movie. One would almost say the film was un-inspired, except we know the inspiration is James Bond.

As the film opens the weather around the world is going to hell. We soon learn that an evil organization is behind the weather from their secret island base. Hmm, sounds like Bond. The trouble is these villains aren't credible.

Also not credible are the people who run the world. They are inept, and incompetent. They are so insipid, they recruit an outside man, Derek Flint, a rich playboy who is an expert at everything he does. Flint is surrounded by women, he's a black belt of Karate, he has lots of technology.

What's never explained is Flint's background. How did he get rich, where did this technology come from? He can speak in his own numeric code, where did this come from? Flint is not every man. He's not even reachable in the ability of common men, and he's not believable.

One does need to remember that this is a parody of James Bond. But unlike the Austin Powers series thirty years later, Flint is not at all funny. And since Flint is not Bond, it's not at all exciting.

I wouldn't go out looking for this film, but if it's on TV, and there's nothing better to do, it's better than watching a Tony Little infomercial.
