Film Review - One Hour Photo

Why doesn't this film have a bigger release? This is really a great piece of acting! I'll tell you why. It's a very sedate film. No car chases, no big fights, it's just Robin Williams showing us that he really can immerse himself in a character when the opportunity arises.

One Hour Photo is the story of a photo processing clerk who is way screwed up in the head. He secretly makes extra prints of a particular family, surreptitiously stalking the wife, fantasizing that he is one of them.

This film really is all Williams' talent. One could do the character and have it come out very two dimensional. Not here. You lose track of Williams and only see Sy staring out blankly at you. He's a very two dimensional thinker. Some how you know that inside that head is a very hurt person. A person waiting to snap.

I can't tell you more without blowing the whole film for you. If you're looking for a character piece, and like a little something different, this just could be for you. I found the change of pace at the end of summer, and the superior acting by virtually every actor in the film a great relief.

Slight Suction!
