 Film Review - Mystery Men

You've got to love a film where someone says, "Want to see my super power? Pull my finger!"

Mystery Men is a spoof on Batman and Superman type hero movies. It is a dark film that assumes even a super-hero would become corrupt if he was successful. In steps the little guys who want to be super-heroes. They're a little stupid, not good fighters, but their hearts are in the right places. As I mentioned the real super-hero has been corrupted by the very system he's trying to protect. His endorsement deals are falling off because he's put all the bad guys behind bars. He decides to corrupt the system to get a villain released from prison.

Honestly, this is a real dumb movie. But you can't knock it too hard, because it is very funny, especially in the finale. This is simple good versus evil. I also can't give this film a really high rating, because let's face it, it ain't that good. Where it falls apart is in the editing. The middle of the film drags horribly. Why can't people just accept that some movies should be short?

The long and short is this is a film to see if you want to put your brain on hold and laugh. No thinking, no logic, just some laughs.
