Film Review - Musketeer, The

Oh my God. Alexandre Dumas must be spinning in his grave.

I like swashbuckling movies. I think sword-play is cinematically interesting. So why the hell would anyone make a swashbuckling movie into a Kung-Fu flick?

This is about the worst musketeer film ever made. The original story is so fun, and full of adventure, why throw away everything except the character's names and write this piece of trash?

If that wasn't enough, this film would lead you to believe that all you had to do to become an musketeer was hang out with them. Reality is the King had to hand you a musket. Get it, Musketeer? They carried the King's musket.

I've got to really warn you off about this Hong Kong style action. It works for a Hong Kong Kung Fu movie. The fighters are using their Chi to levitate. They are working under the assumption that life is a illusion, so there-fore so is gravity. But no one in France ever figured this out. This style of action is plan old out of place.

All in all, this movie just doesn't work. Rent the 1974 film The Three Musketeers starring Michael York.
