Film Review - Mission: Impossible 2

Good Morning, Mr. Ticketbuyer,

Tom Cruise, has recently invaded the James Bond franchise. Previously, Mr Cruise has screwed around in his underwear, and flown F-14 aircraft successfully on screen. In 1996 Mr. Cruise made his first attempt at invading the Bond franchise. The film was a financial success, but hadn't hit quite the mark.

In this attempt, Cruise has enlisted the talent of Director John Woo to speed the pace of the picture and add intensity to the action. Mr. Woo is well know for his ability to bring the audience to the edge of their seats and succeeds in MI2. The speed of this film is lightning fast. Sometimes a little too fast to keep track of the story.

Cruise has also recruited Thandie Newton as his "Bond Girl". Newton's performance is anything other than fluff. She's cocky, gritty, and very sexy. Ms. Newton has recently been seen in Beloved, and Besieged. (Too many B movies don't you think?) Much of her previous work may have been overlooked by many movie goers. MI2 will open doors for her.

Finally, Anthony Hopkins has been cast as Swanbeck, the counter to James Bond's M. Swanbeck is a cold man. You can tell he is ruthless, has killed many in the past, and would do it again if he needed to. You don't want to cross this man.

Mission: Impossible 2 has completed Cruise's goal of out Bonding James Bond. The MI franchise can last for twenty or more years with Cruise in the Producer's chair. He will only need to recruit new agents as he becomes too old for the secret agent role.

Your mission Mr. Ticketbuyer, should you decide to accept it, is to buy a ticket to Mission: Impossible 2. As usual, if any of your Improbable Movies Force hates this film, the Reviewer will disavow any knowledge of this web page. Good Luck!
