Film Review - Kid Stays In the Picture, The

I really like documentaries. The trouble is very few of them make it to the local movie house. We have to rely on a few satellite stations to finish them. Here's one you should look out for if you're interested in the motion picture business.

The Kid Stays In the Picture is the autobiography of Robert Evans. You're wondering who the hell Robert Evans is. He's a powerful Hollywood producer. You have never known his name, but you've seen his films.

Evans starts out in the garment business, decides he'd like to be an actor, becomes one, and then decides he'd really like to be Darryl F. Zanuck. He gets a few small budget movies going, and he's on his way. Soon, he's running Paramount Pictures.

What is particularly interesting about this picture is how Evans life, which is documented with still pictures, is portrayed by animating those stills. Otherwise, this is a very self-serving film designed so Evans can tell you want a cool guy he is.

But, you could do a lot worse.
