Film Review - Jingle All The Way

I rarely gloat (at least in a review), but I have reason to toot my own horn. In 1996, upon the release of Jingle All The Way, I had given the film a "No Tickets" rating because I honestly I didn't believe the film to be worth my hard-earned cash. (This is one reviewer who has to pay for his tickets.) The film's trailer completely turned me off. Recently, on a cross-country flight Jingle All The Way was played.

I must say this is one of the most morally bankrupt films I have ever seen. Arnold Schwarzenegger is the world's worst father who never keeps his promises. But here comes Christmas, and if he can just get a TurboMan action figure, well then his neglect the other 364 days of the year will be forgiven. That's right, you can be a lousy father if you just buy the right toy for your kid. This is the underlying message of Jingle All The Way.

Is there anything good in this film? Sinbad as a crazed postal worker has some amusing bits, but in general, we have a genuine Sucks and Blows film.

Sucks and Blows!
