Film Review - Heavy Metal
This is one of the truly great animated features of all time. Based on the magazine of the same name, Heavy Metal plays on every teenaged boy's fantasies: to be strong, get beautiful girls with big tits, and to have a big dick.
The stories themselves are simplistic and adolescent; however, the animation is what's top-notch. Each section of the picture was farmed out to different artists in different parts of the world. Although certain themes were kept constant throughout the picture, each animation team was allowed to express their own style. This lovingly crafted film took years to hand-draw, and it shows.
Heavy Metal is not for everyone, but if you're interested in a story of how good will eventually triumph over evil and see some of the best animation in the world, this picture could be for you.
