Here's a real stinker. I've mentioned the 20-minute rule. The film needs to grab me somehow in the first 20 minutes or "Adios suckers!"

Great Expectations didn't pass the 20-minute rule. I didn't care about anyone, didn't get hooked by the story, and quite frankly found Gwyneth Paltrow's character a stuck-up bitch who doesn't deserve an Oscar®.

The secret is to not bore the audience, guys!
