Film Review - Beavis and Butt-Head Do America

Were my expectations high when I went to see this movie? Did I expect to see award-winning animation? Did I expect to see clever humor?

Like, what do you think I am, a dork?

In all fairness, I knew Beavis and Butt-Head have only 10 minutes of material in them. This meant we'd get the same joke over and over, and there would be great stretches where we'd be waiting for a laugh.

It was surprising, when there were a few unexpected gags in this otherwise lame flick. The opening titles were extremely funny if you grew up in the 1970s. They do give you the impression you're going to get more than you do, but we did laugh. Other notable chuckles came from seeing how Butt-Head analyzes the theft of their TV set. Beavis' "Cornholio" act gave us lots of cannon fodder at dinner after the movie.

There are a lot of qualifications for seeing this movie. If you really aren't looking for high brow stuff, if you've seen Beavis & Butt-Head and know what you're getting into, if you're very very drunk -- you might like this movie. It's an acquired taste.
